Fans, if you missed TitleClash, then all we can say is that you didn’t see what is being called one fo the most epic nights in WWC History…
To start the show, Patrick Black called out Matt Taylor, officially confirming that Matt’s title defense against Aaron Williams was going to be a Last Man Standing match. Taylor, rather unhappy with the Executive Committee’s declaration, fired back at Black saying “I promise you that match will not happen”.
Afterwards, Superstar Shawn Parks (who looked and sounded an awful lot like the Rock) defeated Marvel Trice via pinfall.
Next up, JT Stahr prepared to defend his WWA Heavyweight Title against Malo Pescado. However, this didn’t happen – as DDK came out to interrupt the match. DDK chased off Pescado, then lamented that after serving his suspension, he wasn’t booked into a match on TitleClash. He told JT Stahr that Stahr deserved “A better competition” than Pescado, challenging JT to a match right there. JT accepted, but came out on the losing side when DDK snuck in a crafty blow behind the referee’s back.
Afterwards, DDK debuted an poster that had a list of things that Ric Byrne had done in his career – on it, DDK checked off “Win another company’s title on a WWC show”, telling Ric (who was at ringside on commentary) that there would be more.
Next up, the ever-popular DJ Tom Sharp looked like he might be heading to victory over Princeton Travis when Travis’ partner, Marvel Trice, interjected himself int he match. The duo beat on Sharp for several minutes, until President Patrick Black physically got between them and Sharp, commanding them to the back or face suspensions.
We were next honored by a visit from Aberdeen Police Chief Clark Gast. Chief Gast announced that WWC’s September 11th show, Patriot Games, would be a fundraiser to benefit the Aberdeen K-9 Unit. Mmidway through his presentation, Matt Taylor arrived, openly mocking the Chief and the people of Aberdeen. When Chief Gast let slip that he wasn’t on duty – Matt Taylor struck the Chief, shortly thereafter being tackled to the ground and handcuffed by Aberdeen Police. before they left the building with Taylor, however, Chief Gast called the officers back – the Chief figured out that Matt Taylor was trying to get out of his scheduled match with Aaron Williams! Rather than be used as an “out” by Taylor, Chief Gast ordered the officers to take Taylor backstage, delaying his arrest until AFTER Taylor’s title defense!
In a brutal ladder match, “Penthouse Playboy” Jimmy Malloy faced off against North American Champion Terry Reines of International Incident. Both competitors brought their A game, several times each appearing to have finally beaten the other before Reines finally retrieved his title for the win. Even in losing, though, Malloy was very impressive, something that the Executive Committee has been buzzing about ever since!
In a long-awaited confrontation, the remaining members of International Incident (Nikita Allanov and Eddy Gonzales) faced off against Will Profit’s team of the Solar Powers (Jake Ashworth and Eclipso). In a quick paced high octane match, the Solar Powers finally triumphed, becoming the NEW WWC Tag Team Champions in the process after interference from Terry Reines backfired! Afterwards, the trio took out their frustrations on the Solar Powers, then turned to attack Will Profit – only to be stopped by the appearance of DDK!
Once International Incident left ringside, DDK went over to “What Did Ric Byrne Do?” poster, revealing a line stating “Save Will Profit”. After checking this off, DDK returned to the ring… and attacked Profit, laying him out! DDK then revealed ANOTHER line on the poster, this one saying “Betray Will Profit”, while Security and Patrick Black contained a furious Ric Byrne.
In our final match of the evening, Aaron Williams and Matt Taylor put everything on the line for the WWC World Heavyweight Title. Nothing in the building was safe from being used as a weapon as each man tried to keep their opponent down for a 10 count. After an exhausting 40 minutes, Taylor finally kept Williams down after smashing Aaron with various chairs nearly 20 times! Barely able to stand himself, Matt Taylor staggered to the back, jeering in the face of Chief Gast as he went.
